The second originates from the late 1970s and early 1980s alongside the New Wave boom with bands such as The Knack, The Beat and The Romantics. The third wave is from the later 1980s into the 1990s, which also includes Alternative Rock influenced artists such as Matthew Sweet, Weezer, The Posies, and Teenage Fanclub.
